As a relatively unique titanium tube product, the production process of titanium welded pipe is made of cold-rolled titanium coil supporting the tube shape and then welded by tungsten inert gas shielded welding. Due to the excellent corrosion resistance of titanium, titanium welded pipes have gradually replaced stainless steel and copper alloy tubes as the preferred materials for condensers and heat exchangers since the products were put on the market, and are therefore widely used in condensers and heat exchangers that require seawater as a cooling medium such as coastal power stations, seawater desalination, and marine oil. Compared with titanium seamless pipes, titanium welded pipes can be used to manufacture thinner wall fittings, and the minimum wall thickness can reach 0.3 ~ 0.5mm, while the minimum wall thickness of titanium seamless pipes is about 0.9mm. At the same time, due to the long length and stable performance of titanium welded pipes, petrochemical and other industries have a great demand for thick-walled titanium welded pipes, and the development of thick-walled titanium welded pipes in China has made certain breakthroughs, but the industrial production technology of thick-walled titanium welded pipes is not mature, which will be the next development direction of titanium welded pipes.

With the stable supply of titanium strips, the cost of titanium welded pipes has been further reduced, and the competition has become more intense. Stimulated by the rapid change in the supply of titanium strip raw materials and the expectation of China's nuclear power construction plan, Chinese mainland has set off a strong investment boom in titanium welded pipe production lines since 2008.
